Anyone diagnosed with a serious illness or living with a chronic illness and physical pain often face both stress and distress that can be physical, emotional and spiritual.​

Our professional, CPE Chaplains are the spiritual care specialists on the health care team along with doctors and nurses whose focus is caring for the body.

As professional Chaplains, we do not provide definitive answers to questions and issues of spiritual distress. Instead, we help people in spiritual distress identify and draw upon their sources of spiritual strength – regardless of religion or beliefs. ​​​​​​

• Is your patient in need of comfort or prayer?
• Is your patient experiencing conflict between their religious beliefs and a recommended medical procedure?
• Is your patient needing help in making an end-of-life decision?
• Is your patient feeling sad, lonely, or anxious about a medical condition or procedure?
• Has your patient been given discouraging news about a medical condition?
• Does your patient need help with coping skills?
• Does your patient need emotional or spiritual support as they cope with life concerns beyond their illness?
• Does your patient need help in making meaning of their illness?
• Does your patient need spiritual support for pre or post op procedures?
• Do you need us present as you deliver a life changing diagnosis?​
• Is your patient grieving a loss?
• Is your patient searching for meaning, wholeness and peace?
• Is your patient dealing with frustration?

Healthcare Chaplaincy Services Provided

​HOSPICE RELATIONSHIPS

• Make visits whether weekly or on call to the facility to interact patient and their families.
• Provide 24 hour, 365 day-a-year, chaplain emergency care for crisis intervention, and work closely with management on any emergency situation or patient needs.

CHAPLAIN CARE TEAM ACTIVITIES

• Visit family members wherever care can be expressed and help given: hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family homes or other neutral sites.
• At the request of facility:
  • Help plan, conduct or attend funerals for team members or immediate family members, including follow-up support and encouragement to immediate family members during the grief period.
  • Provide, upon request, a voluntarily attended Memorial service for patient, fellow co-workers of a deceased team member either at the workplace or a neutral site.​
  • Help locate representative of their religious group.
  • Serve on the Death Notification to families of patient.

SUPPORT ACTIVITIES

• Draft suggested letters of “Sympathy” to Residents and Employees and immediate family members for the signature of the company President, CEO, or other designated executive leadership.
• Provide, as appropriate and upon request, informational materials to help team member and immediate family members deal with bereavement and grief​
