Hiring a Workplace Chaplain


Corporate chaplains are coming into more demand to help workers face life stressors.

Here are just a few benefits that a chaplain can bring to your business and your employees. Your employees are the most important investment you make in business. My calling is to help business owners protect and serve their most important investment.

Improve employee performance & motivation

The days of employee loyalty are all but gone. Even your best employees are susceptible to being poached by a competitor. And it’s not always because of increased pay. Often times, they are lured away by a workplace culture that they feel better meets their needs helping them meet their goals.

When your employees feel personally valued and encouraged in what they do everyday, it has a positive impact on their personal performance and motivation. A workplace chaplain can provide the personal touch that you cannot, allowing you to continue to lead your company.

Problem resolution

Please allow me to speak the obvious; but as a business owner, you hear only a fraction of the problems taking place between the managers and employees as well as the struggles workers have getting along with other workers.

When you or your managers walk through the business, typically your workers put on their, “I’m working hard, Boss” postures. If they are not getting along with another employee, you’re likely not going to hear about it.

But you’re employees will talk about these issues with a workplace chaplain, and your chaplain (who is on committed to partnering with you) can help resolve these problems earlier thus reducing the total negative impact on your company workplace.


Feeling of being valued by staff

Everyone needs and wants regular “at-a-boy” compliments. Most business owners don’t have the time to stay up to date with the personal life-stuff their employees deal with every day at home. One of my mentors once told me that the deepest need of the human heart was to be understood. You understand your business, your chaplain will come to understand and appreciate the life issues your employees face.

Free up management/HR time

The time your managers spend problem solving is enormous. The more time they can invest solving production of cash flow issues, the more profitable you company can become. Your workplace chaplain can relieve your managers and HR department of a multitude of personal life issues workers face that is costing your managers time, energy and mental focus.

Management not being expected to deal with issues for which they are not qualified

Most managers in your business are not qualified nor do they want to deal with employee issues such as: loss of loved one, substance abuse, separation and divorce or, providing care for their aging parents. But these are the real life issues your workers face all the time.

Your workplace chaplain is equipped to address all these issues and many others. By the way, your managers are likely to find out about these issues when your workers have already been trying to handle on their own, on company time. Workers are more likely to talk with your workplace chaplain than they are your managers.

The top 5 reasons for short-term work absenteeism are: 1. Minor illness such as colds and headaches; 2. Stress; 3. Musculoskeletal injuries such as neck strains; 4. Back pain; 5. Home/family responsibilities.

​Many of these occurrences can be traced back to workplace or home life stresses, and they all have direct impact on your business. Your employees need someone like a workplace chaplain to talk with who can help guide them through these tough times in life.


Reduce grievances and litigations

When employees deal with unaddressed life issues, whether originating at work or elsewhere, they’re stress increases and negative behavior is more likely to impact their work performance as well as the ways they interact with other workers. When workers talk with their chaplain, they are better equipped to proactively handle life issues before they become too much to bear on their own.
